How I Work

In treating depression and anxiety, these strategies have been most successful:

  1. As we meet and your story unfolds, I assist you by using relational, emotion-focused, and contemplative therapy. My essential philosophy is that each client is unique, and deserves her or his own therapy, and I work to assess what methods best fit your needs, rather than attempting to fit you to any technique.
  2. Our connection creates “limbic resonance,” which actually contributes to the re-shaping of pathways in your brain. Your inner dialogue changes, and your connections with others improve.
  3. For clients who are drawn to writing or poetry, I use Inner Process Writing™ as an effective strategy for healing.
  4. We discuss nutrition, meditation, and other holistic strategies for mental well-being.
  5. Our well-being is influenced by the world in which we live—our context—we are not just isolated selves. Ecopsychology is a way of considering how the world impacts us, and broadening our view, and is available in both workshops and individual therapy.
